Those hips don't lie :)

Day 2
July 31, 2012

Okay...I didn't expect to run again today, but I DID and it felt GREAT!  I went on the same route in my neighborhood only I circled my block once which I didn't do yesterday.  The real reason why I circled my block???  I had two cups of coffee in the morning, I got down the road and had to take a potty break!  Pretty funny but I did get a little more running in unexpectedly :)

Dylan, my son, and I got out the BOB revolution and started strolling.  The best jogging stroller by far is the BOB.  It's a little pricey but totally worth it.  It has an attachment for infant car seats and a snack tray.  We have the Chicco infant carrier, but I do know that there is an attachment for Graco and Peg Perego.  I'm sure it fits many others.

Dylan loves riding with Mommy.  He likes looking at nature, says hi to people passing by and sings songs while we stroll.  There is a park in our neighborhood so sometimes on our way back we will stop at the playground and play.  I'm pretty fortunate to live in such an awesome neighborhood that will help me achieve my goal to run that 5K.

I spoke to my husband last night and he's on board to run the race with me.  We just need to decide on one.  There is one in February called Cupids Chase that supports people with disabilities and my husband mentioned one thats in March and in runs through the Riverbanks Zoo.  A local zoo that Dylan has enjoyed from 5 weeks old to now!  As soon as we decide, I'll post where and when!

I did run and walk again today.  I don't want to burn out.  I want to get stronger and faster before I begin running longer.  Here are the stats from today...

Time: 38min 13sec
Distance:  2.7 total miles
Run: 1.6 miles
Walk: 1.1 miles
Rate/run: 12 min mile
Rate/walk: 16 min mile
Calories burned: 329

I decided to measure a few parts of my body that I would like to slim down.  Here are those measurements.  I will continue to measure my body the same day that I weigh myself and enter those stats together but for now here is my starting point.

High waist: 31 inches
Low waist: 40 inches
Hips: 43 inches
Thigh: 25 1/2 inches
Arm: 11 inches

I also took a picture of myself after my run.  Sorry a little sweaty but at least I have a beginning photo.  Hopefully, there will be more that will show progress!

From Start To Finish

Day 1
July 30, 2012

Yesterday my hubby, Daniel, bought me a new pair of running shoes!  At that moment I decided that the next few months I would devote myself to running with a goal of completing a 5K race.  Not that I really am wanting to WIN the race. I really just want to FINISH!

A year and a half ago I gave birth to the cutest, sweetest, funniest little boy in the world!  BUT, that was a year and a half ago...and I still need to loose that last 10lbs.  What better way to get back in shape (more shape than I was before I became preggers) than to start running!

When I was in high school (don't ask me how long ago that was) I ran cross country.  I wasn't very good at it but I COULD run at least 3 miles!  I didn't last past a year.  It was high school and I was more interested in the social part not athletics.  This time though, I want to make it.  I want to succeed.  I want to loose that 10+lbs and RUN in a 5K...the whole time!  That is my goal.  I'm sticking to it :)

So, today I set up my iPhone with an app called RunKeeper.  It was free at the app store.  It tracks your time, distance, rate, and calories burned.  So for the next few months I will blog these results, how I feel and maybe even post some pictures.

Time:  34min 29sec
Distance:  2.24 total miles
Run: 1.26 miles
Walk: .97 miles
Rate:  15min 23 sec
Calories burned: 264

I was pretty proud of myself for actually running a full mile before walking today.  Not sure if I will run everyday due to work schedule and having a 19 month old.  But I am certainly going to try my BEST!

I will also track my weight.  I'm getting on the scale right now...

Starting weight:  155.0 lbs

Here are the new shoes that started it all...
